5-8 November 2012.  9th Biennial SRWCOWG Conference entitled, Woody Crops: Growing the Bioeconomy. Oak Ridge-Knoxville area of Tennessee, United States. Short rotation woody crops can provide a large sustainable supply of woody biomass for the co-production of bioenergy, biofuels, or bioproducts and solid wood and fiber products.  Call for Abstracts. The deadline for submitting abstracts is June 29, 2012.  Please note that a paper is not required. We invite you to submit an abstract for a presentation or poster for this event.    Please see the attached for more details regarding topics of interest and instructions for submission. 5 to 9 November 2012. An International Training on Free, Prior, and Informed Consent for REDD+. RECOFTC, Bangkok, Thailand. This training course aims to develop basic understanding of FPIC among government officers, field facilitators, and project officers who are directly and indirectly involved in the design and implementation of REDD+ projects. This training is targeted at people concerned with the design and implementation of REDD+ projects or programs. They should include REDD+ project proponents, independent community facilitators or advisors; indigenous and local community leaders; local government staff; project staff/liaison officers; private sector investors; and NGO facilitators, advocates and activists. Participants are expected to be fully conversant in natural resource management with basic understanding and up-to-date knowledge of REDD+ in their working contexts. The number of participants will be limited to 15 participants because the course requires a lot of interactive discussions and exercises.Deadline of application is on 12 October 2012.
