The Gaia Way - The Gaia Way is a 501c3 foundation which seeks to create ecologically sound, economically viable solutions to the deforestation of the Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil. They have set aside more than 2000 acres for this purpose. Integrated Approaches to Participatory Development (IAPAD) - Participatory Avenues <> promotes the diffusion of Participatory 3D Modeling (P3DM) as best practice for merging peoples' knowledge and traditional spatial information. International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) - founded in 1967 with a mandate for improving food production in the humid tropics and to develop sustainable production systems. International Society for the Preservation of the Tropical Rainforest -- The International Society for the Preservation of the Tropical Rainforest (ISPTR) is an American and Peruvian non-profit organization which is comprised of a dedicated team of volunteer naturalists.
International Tree-Ring Data Bank - The primary purpose for the ITRDB is to provide a permanent location for the storage of well-dated, high-quality dendrochronological data from around the world.
International Tropical Timber Organization - (ITTO) was created by treaty in 1983 and its headquarters was established in Yokohama, Japan, in late 1986. The primary idea is to provide an effective framework for consultation among producer and consumer member countries on all aspects of the world timber economy within its mandate. Among its multiple objectives is a commitment to assist members to meet ITTO's unique Year 2000 Objective, which states that by the year 2000 all tropical timber products traded internationally by Member States shall originate from sustainably managed forests.

NAUFRP represents 69 of our nation’s most prestigious universities and their respective scientists, educators and extension specialists. NAUFRP’s purpose is to advance the health, productivity, and sustainability of America’s forests by providing university-based natural resource education, research, science, extension and international programs.
New Forests Project-The NFP is a people-to-people, direct-action program established in 1982 in an effort to initiate reforestation and reduce deforestation in developing countries.
New York Botanical Garden <> United States. The New York Botanical Garden is a museum of plants, an educational institution, and a scientific research organization.


Organization for Tropical Studies  The OTS is a non-profit consortium that has grown to include 65 universities and research institutions from the United States, Latin America and Australia. In the early 1960's, scientists from U.S. universities forged working relationships with colleagues at the Universidad de Costa Rica in the interest of strengthening education and research in tropical biology. Intense interest both in the U.S. and Costa Rica led to the founding of OTS in 1963. OTS was founded to provide leadership in education, research and the responsible use of natural resources in the tropics. To address this mission, OTS conducts graduate and undergraduate education, facilitates research, participates in tropical forest conservation, maintains three biological stations in Costa Rica and conducts environmental education programs.

The Overstory-The Overstory is a free e-mail agroforestry journal for practitioners, researchers, professionals, and enthusiasts. One issue is sent every two weeks focusing on a concept in related to designing, developing, and learning more about agroforestry systems. Each edition includes project development strategies, brief book recommendations, species highlights, internet links to helpful information for agroforesters, and much more.

Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission - Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission (APFC) is one of 6 FAO Regional Forestry Commissions that cover the world’s major geographic regions. The APFC, a forum for advising and taking action on key forestry issues, focuses on issues pertinent to Asia-Pacific, a region characterized by its diversity and rapid changes. Its activities are also shaped by shifts in international forestry paradigms, priorities and practices.
FAO Forestry - The FAO Forestry Web site provides literally thousands of pages of information, access to all of FAO’s forest-related databases, detailed country profiles and links to documents on all aspects of forestry. Recent additions include new sites on forest fire, national forest programmes and forest reproductive material, among others.   The FAO Programme on Urban and Peri-Urban Forestry -- The Urban and Per-Urban Forestry programme aims to document and disseminate information and to provide technical guidance to member countries in the field of Urban and Peri-Urban Forestry. World Agricultural Information Centre -- WAICENT --The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and its 183 Members highlight information as one of the priority areas in fighting hunger and achieving food security.
